Honoring the Past. Building for the Future.

Our building renovation plan preserves the character of a historic school while thoughtfully preparing it to educate the next generation of students. It’s all about making a difference in the learning environment.

Campus Overview

The NorthShore Classical Academy campus consists of two primary academic buildings connected by an enclosed cloister, along with a full-size gymnasium and a large athletic field. Together, the campus includes 11 classrooms, a cafeteria and student commons, a fully equipped commercial kitchen (to be developed into a teaching kitchen), administrative offices, and athletic facilities.

The original building, constructed in 1860, once served as the community’s Catholic grade school. With its 14-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, steam radiators, and beautifully aged woodwork, the building reflects a sense of history and craftsmanship rarely found in modern schools. Affectionately known as the “Hogwarts building,” it truly embodies the spirit of a classical education. This building will be renovated in Phase Three.

A second, newer building was added in 1962 and will be in the first phase of renovation, along with the restrooms and cafeteria commons area.

REDESIGN AND RENOVATION

The renovated classrooms will be thoughtfully redesigned to support focus, clarity, and calm. Improved acoustics—achieved through specialized carpeting and ceiling treatments—will reduce echo and ambient noise common in many schools. Carefully selected lighting fixtures, with appropriate color temperature and frequency, will further minimize distraction and eye strain.

Several original blackboards will be preserved and complemented with modern whiteboards and projection technology. Classroom furniture will be fully configurable, allowing teachers to adapt each space to discussion, lecture, or collaborative learning as needed.

IMPROVED SECURITY

To enhance safety and visibility, the east side of the newer building—including the gymnasium entrance and connecting cloister—will be extended approximately 20 feet to create a secure vestibule, welcoming entrance, and a highly visible reception area. Office personnel will have clear sightlines to all visitors approaching the building.

This expansion will also include a new Headmaster’s office and space allocated for a future two-level elevator, strengthening both accessibility and long-term planning. Together, these improvements significantly enhance campus security and access control.

NEW RESTROOMS & IMPROVED WATER QUALITY

Restrooms in the newer building will be fully reconfigured and renovated to meet ADA standards, with additional fixtures and stalls to better serve students and guests.

While Saukville’s municipal water supply is safe, all campus drinking fountains will be treated with reverse osmosis filtration to remove potential heavy metals, fluoride, and other impurities—resulting in cleaner, better-tasting drinking water for students and staff.
