Extra-Curricular Clubs
Students are invited to participate in extra-curricular clubs that provide a leisurely way to deepen their understanding of our curriculum and form the habits of our core virtues.
NorthShore Classical Academy offers a variety of extra-curricular clubs that invite students to explore shared interests beyond the classroom. These clubs provide a relaxed and enjoyable setting in which students can deepen their engagement with the curriculum while putting our core virtues into practice.
Through participation, students build friendships, develop confidence, and experience healthy competition. More than activities, these clubs are opportunities for personal growth—helping students mature in character and citizenship as they learn to contribute to a vibrant school community.
Debate Club
The Debate Club equips students with the skills of clear thinking, persuasive speaking, and respectful disagreement—habits essential to a free and thoughtful society. Through structured debate formats and guided practice, students learn to research complex issues, construct logical arguments, and respond thoughtfully to opposing viewpoints. Emphasis is placed on civil discourse, intellectual humility, and the fair-minded pursuit of truth rather than winning at all costs. Under faculty guidance, students develop confidence in public speaking while sharpening their reasoning and listening skills. Competitive opportunities allow students to test their abilities in formal settings, preparing them to engage ideas with clarity, courage, and respect as mature and responsible citizens.

Chess Club
The Chess Club invites students to engage in one of the world’s oldest and most respected games of strategy and intellect. Through regular play and guided instruction, students develop patience, concentration, and foresight while learning to think several moves ahead. Emphasis is placed on logical reasoning, sportsmanship, and gracious conduct in both victory and defeat. Chess provides a quiet but challenging environment in which students learn to plan carefully, recognize patterns, and adapt to changing situations. Opportunities for friendly competition help students build confidence and resilience, making the Chess Club an ideal setting for cultivating disciplined thinking and thoughtful decision-making.
Engineering Club
The Engineering Club gives students practical, hands-on exposure to the real world of engineering—how things are designed, built, tested, and improved. Students explore multiple engineering disciplines while learning how everyday systems work, from structures and machines to electrical systems and materials. Under guided instruction, members engage in on-site projects that emphasize problem-solving, precision, teamwork, and safety. Students learn to think like engineers: defining problems, developing solutions, testing ideas, and learning from failure. Through design challenges and real-world applications, the club cultivates curiosity, discipline, and an appreciation for the ingenuity that shapes the modern world.

Students participate in a wide range of hands-on projects that introduce the major branches of engineering. Projects may include designing and building mechanical systems such as lifts, gear assemblies, or small engines; constructing and testing scale bridges and structural elements; wiring basic electrical and lighting systems; and exploring manufacturing through material testing, molding, and simple fabrication. Students may also design practical systems such as water filtration or irrigation solutions, automation controls using sensors and timers, or campus-based improvements like benches or small structures. Each project emphasizes thoughtful design, careful execution, and learning through testing and refinement.

Shooting Sports
The Shooting Sports Club introduces students to the time-honored disciplines of rifle and shotgun shooting through a program grounded in safety, responsibility, and respect. Under professional guidance, students receive comprehensive instruction in firearm handling, storage, and hunting safety before progressing to marksmanship and competition shooting. Emphasis is placed on self-discipline, focus, and adherence to strict safety standards at every stage of training. Students also learn the ethical traditions of shooting sports, including sportsmanship and respect for others. Through structured practice and competitive opportunities, the club fosters confidence, precision, and personal responsibility while honoring a classic extracurricular tradition.
Club America
Club America, the high school program of Turning Point USA, provides students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of American civics, history, and public life. Through guided discussions, educational materials, and guest speakers, students examine the principles of the American constitutional republic and the responsibilities of citizenship. Emphasis is placed on intellectual honesty, respectful dialogue, and the cultivation of civic virtue. Students are encouraged to think carefully, speak clearly, and listen charitably as they engage differing viewpoints. Participation in Club America helps students grow in confidence and character while learning to engage public questions with prudence, integrity, and respect for others.
