The Making of an Entrepreneur–NCA's Entrepreneurial Pathway leads to student success!

Hello Families, Friends, and Supporters of the NorthShore Classical Academy!

The Making of an Entrepreneur

Do Students Know How A Business Gets Started?

  • In summer, it is encouraging to see young children with lemonade stands or older children with mini lawn-mowing enterprises. These budding entrepreneurs are self-motivated, hard-working, and have unlimited potential.

  • There are over 33.2 million small businesses in the United States. What does it take to evolve your business from a folding table on the side of the street to a permanent location?

  • NCA will teach the foundational aspects of business laid out in our Entrepreneurial Pathway–part of our unique World of Work Curriculum. Students will learn how to realize their individual goals–to turn the lawn mowing job into a successful landscaping company.

Most American Businesses Are Small

  • According to the Small Business Administration, 99.9% of all American businesses are small, and all businesses, at one time, started out as small.

  • Despite the wealth of entrepreneurship in the U.S., the road of a small business owner isn’t easy. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 18% of businesses fail within the first year, 50% after 5 years, and 65% by year 10.

The Entrepreneurs Of Tomorrow

  • NCA’s Entrepreneurial Pathway program will introduce students to current local business owners so they can learn first-hand what it took to get their individual business from idea to reality.

  • Through case studies like an MBA program, students can study why businesses have succeeded and why others have failed, and will learn what they can do to navigate their business past the pitfalls.

  • The details matter as well; NCA will teach about the collateral needs of business, such as human resources and payroll.

Until next time,
